An Illustration Style Spectrum from Realistic to Flat

An Illustration Style Spectrum from Realistic to Flat

Using the image editing pipeline of FLUX.2 [klein] 4B, this presents a "style spectrum" demonstration: the same realistic reference image is pushed toward different illustration languages through instruction-based editing with the same model—from semi-realistic painting that retains volume and lighting to highly saturated vector flat illustration. The creative approach treats "style" as an adjustable parameter: the reference image provides the composition and subject identity, while the prompt describes only changes in brushstrokes, contours, color blocks, and texture, thereby intuitively demonstrating, from a developer's perspective, the model's ability to rewrite the visual language while maintaining subject consistency in image editing. It is suitable for illustration style exploration, brand visual extension, social media illustration revisions, and interactive creative workflows with local real-time preview on consumer-grade GPUs. This work outputs a flattened illustration result as the endpoint example of the spectrum.

Prompt

Try this model
Perform image-to-image style transfer on the reference photo, transforming it into a flat vector editorial illustration: retain the subject's pose, contours, and composition from the reference image, but reconstruct them with boldly simplified shapes, hard-edged clean lines, and a limited palette of four to five flat colors including one accent color. Remove photographic texture and gradients, using only a subtle paper grain overlay, strong graphic negative space, and minimal facial features rendered as simple geometric marks, 16:9 composition, subject slightly off-center. A clear, poster-like contemporary illustration style, no photorealism, no text.
