z-image Style Spectrum: From Realistic to Flat on the Same Motif
Using an approach of "same motif, same composition, different style intensity," this tests the stylistic range of z-image between the realistic and flat extremes. The work selects a single figure-and-scene motif and develops it in three directions—realistic illustration, semi-realistic thick painting, and decorative flat—to observe how material descriptions, light-and-shadow layering, and brushstroke vocabulary in the prompt alter the final texture. It is suitable as an art-direction exploration, for aligning style across a series of illustrations, and as a prompt baseline test before style fine-tuning on open-source text-to-image models like z-image. The author's pipeline exposes only two input parameters, prompt and aspect_ratio, so this work carries the style instructions in a single prompt.

Prompt
A young woman sits alone reading beside a tall arched window, rendered as a stylized editorial illustration. Composition: 16:9 landscape format, the three-quarter figure positioned slightly right of center, window light entering from the left, ample negative space in the upper left. Style: a transition from semi-realistic digital painting toward flat vector shapes—soft volumetric skin shading kept restrained, clothing folds and background simplified into large, clean color fields with crisp edges, a warm terracotta and muted sage green palette, subtle paper grain texture, painterly highlights retained only on the face and hands. Lighting: directional daylight with soft falloff, gentle rim light on the shoulders and hair strands. No text, no watermark.
