Building on the character reference image capabilities of ideogram-v3-character/edit, this is a visual worldbuilding exploration: first use a single character key art image to lock in the face, hairstyle, clothing, and body proportions, then use an edit mask to replace the character's old background with a new scene that matches the intended atmosphere, enabling rapid trial and error of the worldbuilding tone while keeping the character's appearance consistent. The composition uses three assets: the source image defines the character and the original framing; the mask outlines the redrawable background region (same aspect ratio as the source image, avoiding the main subject); the character reference image separately provides a clear frontal face and complete outfit as the model's basis for anchoring identity. With the three working together, the prompt only describes the scene, lighting, and atmosphere and no longer repeats appearance descriptions, reducing character drift. Use cases: early concept design atmosphere direction comparison, worldbuilding consistency across a series of character assets, and continuous shots of the same character across environments in storyboards and shot lists. Because the model's consistency is not absolute, extreme poses and complex scenes still require manual review; the facial clarity and degree of occlusion in the reference image directly affect the final quality.
